November 21, 2008

Dear Friends,

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord, let us remember that there are millions around the earth who do not share in that celebration. As Islam continues to grow around the world and particularly in Ethiopia, He is seen merely as a prophet and not as the Savior of the world. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church does not follow the Western calendar so their Christmas is in January. Our missionaries serving in Ethiopia will celebrate Christmas at home or with other missionaries. Pray for them as this is often a lonely time away from family and friends.

We have been excited to hear the reports of the work in Ethiopia. The September conference in Gambella (near the Sudan border) with the refugees was a great success. They organized a church as well as baptizing a number of people and ordaining some men for the ministry. We are thrilled at God’s blessings on the Refugee ministry. Please continue to pray for Rex and Ginnie Switzer as they establish a base in Addis Ababa. They have had some heavy financial burdens in repairing and refurbishing the house and other buildings on the compound. If you are able to provide any funds toward that project, it would be greatly appreciated.

We are thankful to be active in ministry in our home church. Glenda plays the organ and assists in areas where she is able. Overall Glenda is doing well considering all the health issues that she continues to struggle with. Thank you for your continued prayers for her.

We have also had the opportunity of being with the Berean Baptist Church Magnolia, NJ for a mission conference. This church has supported us for many years, but this was our first opportunity of meeting Pastor William Dilworth. We appreciate so much the churches that have continued to support us. As you consider your mission budget for 2009, we would appreciate your continued support.

Please continue to pray for our family. Kathi and Brian have settled here in NC, and it is nice to have them close by, especially where we can love on our grandchildren. Pray for them, as Brian is unable to go back with Microsoft because of his health. They are still trying to sell their house in Colorado.

Thank you again for your support and prayers! May the Lord bless you this Christmas and in the coming New Year!

Sincerely in Christ,

Gene & Glenda Worley
