Dear Friends,
Fast and furious...seems
to be the order of the day as we head towards our March 29th departure to
the USA for a short two month furlough. Part of the "fast and furious" has
to do with our travels to Dar Es Salaam (the capitol) to teach in the Dar
branch of Bible Institute. Mary taught the ladies and I taught the men, and
then was able to preach for the Sunday service as well.
We were
thankful as a young man in his mid-twenties, "obviously" a weight lifter,
came forward at the end of the service. As I dealt with him, it was
refreshing to see a big bruiser of a man, bow his head, and with tears
literally streaming down on his face, he accepted Jesus Christ as His
savior. PTL. We returned to Arusha this past Tuesday and hit the ground
running. But, the "running" paid off as we saw a young couple accept Christ
on Wednesday evening after the service. Out at Mromboo, Moses and Monica had
one saved and one baptized. We are grateful to see these decisions being
made here, there, and yon! Thank you friends, for your thoughts and prayers
for the ministry here. Rejoice with us in these reports and for your part in
them!
Please pray for Mary and
I to have clarity of thought and productiveness as we tie things up here for
this short furlough ahead. Next week, we are helping with Mromboo's one year
anniversary. After that, we head towards Easter and all the things that go
along with planning the emphasis on the wonder of the resurrection of
Christ, and the celebration of it. Then, on Easter Monday morning, we head
to Moshi town where we will meet with "Team Tanzania," the greatest bunch of
missionaries and friends "ever." This is our annual Team meeting to meet
government requirements as a mission society, and to preach to one another,
sing praise in our own language, as well as plan and strategize for some of
the common ministries that we work together on. The meeting is Monday
through Friday. On Saturday, we fly out. Can you say "exhausted?" ha.
But...that's okay cuz, "Tex mex...here I come!" Have a great week!
Yours in Tanzania,
Vernon and Mary Smith
