Hi everyone,
It’s been a whirlwind of a Christmas time and a new year, but in the end...wonderful! I trust yours has been a good one as well. Mary and I were blessed to have our daughter Bonnie home for Christmas up until January 8th. That in itself was a wonderful Christmas present. Then, on New Year’s eve, my mother joined us until January 10th. While she has already visited us more than 10 years ago, she had never been to the northern circuit here in the Arusha area.
Bible Baptist Church of Olorien is off to a great start this year with a new slogan. The rhyme doesn’t really translate that well, so I won’t try. But, the slogan rhymes and is responsive much like “God is good...all the time.” “All the time... God is good.” Along with normal “challenges,” I am thankful that our attendances are up, and our people are growing.
Bible Baptist Academy is open for the first term of the new year (our school year runs from Jan-Dec), and is doing great. It is super for BBA to have Mrs. Joanne Foltz back in place. We are grateful for her work for sure! Unfortunately, our building of the two story classroom is still stopped. I have been working on it several times every week. However, many times in the pertinent offices, the only person in the world who can help you...is out. “When will he be back?” “Don’t know.” “Can you give me an appointment?” “Don’t work that way.”
Well, in the end, we know that God is in control and He will work this all out in His time. Please pray with us that the building of the school will resume quickly. In the mean time, the kids are none the wiser and the school as it is, is doing great.
Olorien Community Clinic is also buzzing right along. From Oct. 1st to Dec 31st, over 1500 people were treated. Approximately 800 were treated for Malaria. Amazing. Only 4 people in that quarter had to be referred to hospitals with other capabilities. Please continue to pray for OCC, Dr. Byemba, and the staff, for wisdom, safety, and that the good reputation will continue to grow.
That’s it for now... God Bless you all and give you peace. Hope to have another update on the web next week.

Yours in Arusha,
Vernon and Mary

By the way, we were able to show my mother this lovely couple (click for a closer look and use your browser's back button to return).
