Sidebottom Prayer Letter

September 8,  2009

Dear Friends,

Please excuse the generic nature of this letter. Exactly 1 week ago today we were doing some yard work and a car going by suddenly stopped. A lady with a cell phone in her hand yelled "Your house is on fire! I'm calling 911." Those words were NOT music to my ears. Our daughter owns this duplex. She lives on one side & we live on the other side. I ran as quickly as I could to her side to be sure no one was in the house. I knew Rhonda, James & Charles were all at work but didn't know about her daughter, Anna, & her little 3-year old son, Aidan. Praise The Lord all of them were gone.

It wasn't long before all of our family and many friends were here to encourage us and support us emotionally. The cause was an electrical malfunction of the exhaust fan in Rhonda's downstairs bathroom. It spread to the rafters & apparently smoldered a long time. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, except for a very few pieces of furniture and, Praise The Lord, most of her sentimental items, photos & important paper, she and her family have suffered an almost total loss. We did not lose anything but EVERYTHING is smoked up. As far as we know, EVERYTHING was covered with insurance. This is a REAL BLESSING.

We are relocated in a basement apartment not far away. Rhonda and family moved into a house last night PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OF US DURING TIDS UPHEAVAL. My first question was, "Lord, how are you going to get glory out of this?" I am waiting for the answer but already we have seen some good things happen.

Our mailing address will remain the same. For the moment we do not have e-mail but hope to get that worked out soon .

Do continue to pray for our dear people and missionary friends in Ethiopia.   Knowing some of the trials of life they face continually makes all this seem a bit trivial.

Thanks for loving them and u!

Phyllis Sidebottom for both Don and me.
