February 28, 2010 Update

Hamjambo,

Well, it's been an interesting week.

We finally got our water problem solved at the college. It seems that when the city rerouted our pipes last year they put a gate valve in and left it turned off. To make matters worse there wasn't a culvert or anything around it, it was just buried. So, we had to dig up the entire line to find the problem. We removed the valve and put in a union joint so our water is flowing again.

But the tanks at the kitchen and the married dorm weren't getting filled, and then we noticed the septic tank was almost overflowing. The pipe was broken somewhere on the property so we had to dig it up to find the leak, and now finally we are back in business.

Friday my facebook account was hacked into. We caught the criminal in the act, but then facebook disabled my account. I've written to try and get it reopened, but have received no response. So, I'm off facebook for now. It's not a big deal except that I had connected with some old college friends of mine, and I don't have their e-mail addresses so we are disconnected again unless facebook re-enables me.

We had good services today. Attendance was down a little, but some of the people had to work. We have a young man we've been working with and he's ready to teach the youth. So, we'll be dividing the Sunday school classes next week. The youth need their own program but we haven't had anyone to take them until now, so this should be a big help for the teenagers.

Wednesday I went to immigrations to check on my work permit. They have done nothing. When I reminded them I was told to come back this week they said the problem was that the Chief Immigration Officer's boss was still holding it up. I didn't know she had a boss unless there is a Minister for Immigration. If my file has gone so high that a cabinet member is holding it they must really think I'm somebody important with a lot of money. I can assure you, no bribes are forthcoming. As I was told last time there is nothing wrong with my file. It is an internal problem, a problem nobody apparently is interested in fixing. They gave me a number and told me to call next Wednesday so I don't have to waste my time going down there. In other words, they're giving me the brush off so they don't have to deal with me in person.

The good news is my Visa has now been extended to May 8. So, we still have ten weeks. To do what I don't know, but I guess we'll continue on until we see what happens.
