Prayer
Letter
December 2007 / January 2008
Dear
Friend,
Christmas
and New Year's were really fine this year. Services on both
days were well-attended. Christmas was our high day for the
year—54! The primary children sang for both services and said
the books of the Bible. The youth quoted the Christmas story in
Luke 2. Two ladies who had never sung for us before did a fine
job.
A month ago I met Idris, the
manager of a nearby paint supply shop. Idris is a Muslim. He
and I have had some long discussions, but he remains
unconvinced. He has heard lots of Scripture, but the Muslims
say the New Testament has been changed. It would have to have
been changed 180º if Islam is correct! Please pray that God's
Word will change Idris' mind and heart so that he will be saved.
Last Saturday on soul-winning,
Daniel and I met Mary Okpanachi. As she heard the Word of God
and understood that her works had no part in salvation, Mary
believed the Gospel. She then prayed and received Christ's
forgiveness. Please pray that she will begin coming to IBC,
since the church she has been in does not teach the truth.
We are now entering a new year
and do so asking you to join with us in prayer for Independent
Baptist Church, Lokoja. We rejoice that four received Jesus
Christ these past two months. Please pray for more souls to be
saved and that God will bring new people to the church and
revive the current ones. Also, we are praying for some young
men who are serious about serving the Lord. Several of the
people in the church need to submit to baptism. Please pray
that they will understand the importance of that step.
Also, please pray for our health, especially Ellen's resistance
to malaria and typhoid and my pressurized ears. One specialist
put a tube in to no avail and another removed the tube and gave
me nose drops to restrict my Eustachian tubes. Three years
later, I am still having the same problem.
