Prayer Letter
December 15, 2009
Pastor, praying friends and family,
As I am writing this letter, Christmas is just 10 days
away, and the “buzz” of Christmas is in the air. Here in
Zambia, people are preparing for the most celebrated holiday
of the year. Juliana is at a practice for Sunday where she
has 4 youth doing a dramatic reading of the Christmas story.
Hollianne is finishing up some school, and Brandon is on
break from his school. This morning I delivered building
materials to Calvary Baptist Church across to help in the
construction of a new bathroom for them.
For three months now, Faith Baptist Church has been
meeting on our own plot under a tent another missionary
loaned us. We bought a sound system and have blocks for
walls. God has been blessing the ministry here. Looking back
at the first of the year, in January we had an average
attendance of 55 - in November we averaged 110, with a high
of 135. We also baptized 64 this year into the membership of
Faith Baptist Church. Click
here to see some pictures of Faith Baptist Church.
Saturday is our Sunday school Christmas party. Many of
the children who come are orphans or children at risk. Our
church gathered clothes and shoes for the kids, which we
will distribute during the party. Look for pictures on
Facebook or our web page. As Hollianne prepares to go to
college she has been downsizing and we will be giving out
her excess stuffed animals as well.
Please pray for a young man named Kwenda. He has just
graduated from Bible college and is coming on as Assistant
Pastor in training the first of January. I have about 6
months to train him to oversee the church while we are on
furlough in June. I am so grateful to have him with us.
We are also excited to have our first team visit us.
Arden Road Baptist Church from Amarillo, Texas will be
coming in June to get a first- hand experience of our work
here. We are thrilled to have them come since they are our
home church. We know that they will be a blessing both to us
and the Zambian people and pray that we can be a blessing to
them.
God bless you all as you continue to support our work
here. Without your love and encouragement we would not be
able to carry out the Great commission. God’s grace be upon
you all and a prosperous new year.
