Prayer Letter

February 2008

Dear Praying Friends,

We’re baaaack - in Zambia, that is, after our first furlough. As we reflect on the four months that we spent in the States we are so thankful to the many people who made our furlough experience special. To the great supporting churches in which we were able to report, to the new churches we visited and enjoyed, and to our home and sending churches who showered us with love and blessings - a big THANK YOU to you all!!

We had many churches and individuals who expressed an interest in sending us care packages. What an extreme blessing! We have posted a list of items on a separate page that could be sent (address is on home page). Some items we are not able to get here and others are just too expensive to purchase. There will also be some tips for shipping items to Zambia that might be helpful in our receiving them. Thank you in advance for your willingness to be a blessing to our family. It is so thrilling to get a box from the homeland.

Getting back into the swing of things has been slow. Curtis has played “Mr. Fix It” for the last week. The gate door, one window, wheelbarrow (which is now just barrow – no wheel), lawn mower, and other various items were in need of repair. Juliana has returned to home school and Sunday school, and has been busy getting the house in order. Hollianne and Brandon have been getting back into the routine of school and also catching up with their friends. All of us had to adjust back to losing power and water on occasion. Word has it that the power situation is not good and we can anticipate power outages quite frequently throughout the year. Welcome back to a third world country.

We need your help. The truck we purchased when we arrived in Zambia on our first term has some problems. The turbo needs to be rebuilt, this will cost quite a bit of money to repair, (about $2,000.00). The Owens’ former missionaries to Zambia, now in Sierra Leona had a nice Toyota Landcruiser for sale and we bought it. We paid $15,000.00 for the Toyota. I had to get a loan from the missions office and this cut into our monthly support of course. We can repair the other one and sell it, but only for about half the price of the new one. We need financial help on the loan we had to acquire. Thanks in advance for this special offering. If you can help, just mention “special” on the check somewhere.

Faith Baptist Church in Bro. Loomis’ home is still looking for land. Please continue to pray that the Lord will help us find the perfect place for this church.

Please pray for us as we make plans to begin the work in Kalingalinga. Pray that we will follow the Lord’s leading and continue to trust in Him. Pray that the Lord will give us souls for our labor and that the people will be receptive to the Word of God. Thank you for your prayers and we pray that the Lord will pour out a blessing upon you.

Your servants for Christ’s sake,
Curtis, Juliana, Hollianne, and Brandon Johnson
