It’s hard to believe that we were getting off of the plane a year ago. So much has transpired since that time and now we’re ready to return to the people to whom God has called us. While in the States we visited 85 churches. Most were supporting churches where we gave a report, but some were new and God has added some needed support. It’s always a thrill to expose new people to the work of God in Africa!...

It seems that we are always concerned about “space”. As the churches grow we go through a predictable series of stages that always lead up to one common need, a building. After a trip to the local government offices to inquire about the land situation, the search begins. In reality each community is supposed to have a certain amount of “free” land for religious purposes...

In the 12 years that we have worked in Côte d’Ivoire, God has put together an excellent team. All of the men are graduates of our Bible Institute and are currently working in church planting projects. They have all been gifted with terrific wives that are a blessing in every area of ministry...

January/February 2005
GROWTH ON EVERY “FRONT” It is so very exciting to see that God is moving in each of the four new works. We are seeing people saved nearly every week and it is thrilling to watch them grow in the Lord...

Yes, the civil war in Côte d’Ivoire is still at a “stand-off”. It has become very difficult to imagine what the outcome will ultimately be. During the month of April, 6000 United Nations peacekeepers arrived in an effort to help the country get re-established.

BOUAKE: We have lived in this town in central Côte d’Ivoire for 10 years. It has become the “capitol” of the rebel held territory and the headquarters of all of their activity. During our ten years here we started 4 new churches in this town in addition to the Baptist Bible Institute of West Africa. It is truly heartbreaking to see the work and our home destroyed by the war...

January/Febuary 2003
An anxious feeling of the unknown accompanied our family as we boarded the plane bound for Cote d’Ivoire on January 6th. There was no way to know what awaited us on the other end
.

June/July 2003
Yes, the village of Begbessou was founded just about 100 years ago. Even though this primitive fishing village is located about an hour from the political capitol of Yamoussoukro, it has never had a church of any kind … until now...

October/November 2002
September 19, 2002 is a date that will live in infamy in Côte d’Ivoire. We were awakened at 5:00 am by a call from a neighbor informing us that he was hearing gunfire. That call was the beginning of an eight day ordeal...

August/September 2002
No … not those village people. These people really live in villages. In July a team from the Kansas City area arrived to experience life and ministry in West Africa and help us with ministry. A trip to Begbessou, a fishing village about two hours from our home in Bouaké, was one of the highlights of our trip...
