PHONE CALLS TO THE DODSONS:
East Africa is G.M.T. plus three hours (CST plus 8 hours).
That should be taken into consideration when making a call. Calls made to cell phones do not cost us
anything to receive. And reception normally is better than the land line.

PACKAGES SENT TO EAST AFRICA:
Hard containers should be removed and zip lock bags used instead. Tear the label off and insert it in the bag. Do not insure the package. Claim no commercial value. Send it airmail if possible. Surface mail takes three times as long as the American post officials claim. After the package crosses the ocean ALL things move slow. And surface mail moves even slower. Six to eight month waits are not unusual. Air mail packages can come in ten days  to six weeks. The planets have to align first. Bubble envelopes of appropriate size work better than boxes (if contents allow).

CONTENT OF PACKAGES:
International law applies. Kool Aide is welcome in the unsweetened variety. Flavored Koffee-mate is openly received. We can not get specialty coffee but enjoy it greatly. We like; Barneys’ Santa’s White Christmas, German Chocolate and Red Velvet. We are not Starbucks fans. None of the Dodsons care that much for sweets (and the parents do not need them!). There may be other items that come up occasionally.  These above are not available at all in Tanz.
