Dear Prayer Partners,

I know that you have been praying because my stress level is lower, but we are still feeling the terrible financial crunch here in Kenya. I am sure that the news in the U.S. and abroad has been focusing some on the food storages that are taking place in the poorest areas of the world. With all of the stable crops being used to make ethanol for automobiles there is less to be put into the food market.

Kenya has not be exempt from these problems. The rains in our part of the country have still not come which is causing severe problems for our poor rural villages which rely on their small gardens to produce food for their families. In the northern regions, people are starving from lack of food and the situation is starting to hit our area. Last month, a large bag of rice costs 1200 Kenyan shillings ($20) now it is sailing for 3400 Kenyan shillings ($57). They are predicting that next month it will probably go up to 4500 shillings ($75). Since rice is the main stable in our feeding center's diets, we are concerned about providing food which our 312 children need to survive. Please pray that God will send extra money into the programs for these children.
