Prayer Letter

September 2007

Dear Praying Friends:

The government has finalized the survey of the property for the Abdi Boru Kindergarten building. Tura and his wife, Almaz, started the kindergarten in a small, two room mud house with a dirt floor, and no running water. Almaz and their daughters would collect fresh cow dung each week to spread over the dirt floor to keep the dust down. (And they did not wear gloves). Eventually, Tura was able to put down slabs of volcanic flagstones on the floor.

The local neighborhood folks stopped selling water to Tura for the kids because Tura and his family were not Orthodox. Now, Tura has been able to bring a small pipe from the town supply into the Primary School compound (when the water is running).

The kindergarten has about 80 children meeting in two rooms in a mud house. Then, these children go into the primary school where Karon is a volunteer English teacher.

Tura has bought two simple cement block making machines which are hand operated. He is accumulating blocks for the building project which will begin when the rains are finished .

One block costs US$0.60 and a truck load of rocks costs US$60.00. If you would like to buy a load of rocks or some cement blocks, send the offering to us at the Mission Office, designated "Rocks & Blocks".

These children will steal your heart with their sweet smiles and bright eyes.

Your missionaries in Ethiopia,

Frank and Karon

You ought to pray for the Autersons
