Ethiopian Update
May 2009
Dear Praying Friends:
We want to give you an update of our ministry in
Ethiopia. We informed you of our plans to return to the States for a
short furlough. This trip was needed to visit churches, check on our
aging mothers, and take care of medical and dental checkups.
We have been able to visit some of our supporting churches to report
on God's blessings in the work in Ethiopia and with the Nuers from
Southern Sudan.
The Northway Baptist Church in Fitche is under the care of Tura Mako.
He reports that the church is continuing to search for affordable
land to build on. The church has been invited to show the "Jesus"
film in the Oromo language near the home village of Tura Mako.
The Nuer refugee believers are returning to Southern Sudan to begin
new lives in that once war zone. The pastors have requested
vegetable seeds for gardens as they start their lives again in
Sudan, where they will also be planting the seeds of the Gospel.
Vegetable seeds can be posted to us at P O Box 191, Springfield, MO
65801. Our next training session with the Nuers is scheduled for
December and will be held in Pagak, Southern Sudan.
We are thankful that we still have our mothers. They are Frank’s -
94 and Karon’s – 92 years of age. Both are in Kansas and we have
been able to spend some time with each of them.
We are thankful for overall good health. However, Karon will be
having cataract surgery next month.
A note about our sons: Loyal has enlisted in the Army Reserves and
has finished his basic combat training. He will be training as an
officer at Fort Benning Officer Candidate School. Lance and family
are working on their first church plant in France. They will soon be
holding their next meeting.
We plan to return to Ethiopia in August. Please remember these
prayer requests:
1. Land for the church in Fitche
2. God's blessings as the Nuers are resettled in Sudan and the time
of training later this year
3. Continued good health for both of us
We are ever thankful for financial and prayer support as we partner
together in the ministry with Ethiopians and Sudanese.
