Prayer Letter

March 2008

Dear Praying Friends:

In late February our truck rolled 772 kilometers (482.5 miles) west to Gambella, near the Southern Sudan/Ethiopia border. The ten day Bible training course would be led by Gene Worley, Rex Switzer, Gerwin Alconera and Frank Auterson. The goal was to disciple 30 Nuers who came from the UN sponsored Dimma Refugee Camp or from along the Sudanese border.

These Nuers are veterans of hardship. Most of them have lost not only ancestral lands, but relatives in the Muslim civil war against the “Christian Southern Sudan.” There is presently a fragile peace in place between Northern Sudan (Muslim) and Southern Sudan (“Christian”).

There is now peace in the hearts of three of these men who came to a saving knowledge of our Lord during our teaching sessions. One of these was a Lutheran “pastor” who came to learn God’s Word. Yes, he and four others were baptized in the muddy Boru River which cuts a course through Gambella. Preparations are already underway for another training course in September.

Please note our new email address below.

Pray and Praise

1. Pray for land to build a church building for Northway Bible Baptist Church in Fitche.
2. Pray for wisdom and missionary personnel to work with the Nuers as the work expands.
3. Pray for the health concerns of the missionaries here in Ethiopia.
4. Pray for needed support to get the deputation missionaries to Ethiopia.
5. Praise the Lord for His care over us as we travel the uncertain roads. A large truck was parked
on the dark highway as we returned from our trip in the early morning.
6. Praise the Lord for the visit of the Correll family and friends here in Fitche.
