Biographical Sketch
Frank was saved in 1958 while serving in the U. S. military and
called to ministry in 1962. He graduated from Baptist Bible College
in 1965. During his years at BBC, he received a call to serve in the
mission field of Ethiopia. He has since completed studies for his
bachelors degree at Bethany Bible College in Dothan, Alabama.
Karon trusted Christ as Savior in 1956, and went to Baptist Bible
College in the fall of 1959. She surrendered to be a missionary to
Ethiopia in 1960, and graduated from BBC in 1962. She graduated from
Burge Protestant Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, MO in
1965. Karon returned to the classroom and earned a bachelors degree
from BBC in 1992. In 2000, she completed graduate studies for an MA
at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.
Frank and Karon were married in 1965 and began their missionary
internship later that year with Temple Baptist Church in Orlando,
FL, (now Orlando Baptist Church). They were approved as BBFI
missionaries to Ethiopia in September of 1966, and arrived on the
field in December of 1967. The pioneering work in Ethiopia included
church planting, overseeing primary schools, and a small clinic. A
change of government resulted in their leaving Ethiopia in 1976.
In 1978, Frank and Karon went to Papua New Guinea where they were
involved in planting churches and discipling believers for over 20
years. They left PNG the end of 1998 to return to Ethiopia.
Their present work includes Karon teaching English as a volunteer in
a private primary school in Fitche. Frank does a lot of Handyman and
Mr. Fixit jobs at the school. We are meeting on Sundays with a small
group, with the goal of planting a church in the town of Fitche.
Fitche is a two hour drive north of the capital city, Addis Ababa,
and has a population of 30,000.
There are approximately 4,500 English speaking young people in
Fitche, attending high school, nurses college, technical college, or
teachers training college. Pray with us that God would burden
someone with this need for a youth center and a family to work with
the youth.
You
ought to pray for the Autersons
